Staff Product Manager, Agentic Planning

About the role

GitLab is hiring a Staff Product Manager to lead the direction of its Planning product as software development shifts toward collaboration between people and AI agents. The company may consider Principal level depending on experience and scope.

What you'll do

• Define a clear product direction for planning in a world where humans and AI agents work together, turning open questions into priorities.
• Shape how users capture intent, split it into actionable work, and decide what can run autonomously versus needing human review.
• Explore whether planning should connect software delivery to business objectives, company priorities, and budgets.
• Share ownership of work items, boards, specifications, and portfolio planning with another product manager, helping define the split.
• Partner with engineering and design on the roadmap and present recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Experience leading product strategy and execution for developer tools, software development, or planning products.
• Solid understanding of software development and DevOps workflows and how planning affects downstream delivery.
• Ability to form and defend a product point of view in an uncertain market while staying open to other ideas.
• Clear communication with technical teams and executives, including constructively challenging leadership.
• Strong collaboration across product, engineering, and design.
