Data Scientist II, Applied ML

About the role

Brex is hiring a Data Scientist II for its Applied ML team to build models on financial data that reduce risk and improve the customer experience. You'll own projects end to end, from framing the problem with stakeholders to deploying and monitoring models in production.

What you'll do

• Lead AI/ML solutions from concept through deployment to manage risk or enhance customer experience
• Own the full machine learning lifecycle: problem definition, model design, training, productionization and monitoring
• Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Product, Fraud, Compliance and Credit teams
• Follow through on business impact and bring insights back to stakeholders for product and strategy decisions

Requirements

• 3+ years in Data Science/ML roles, or 2+ years with a PhD in a quantitative field
• Proven end-to-end model development experience, including productionization
• Strong Python, SQL and ML framework skills
• Solid statistics background (hypothesis testing, A/B testing) and software engineering fundamentals such as API development
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical partners

Nice to have: real-time models, advanced degree or published ML research, risk domain (fraud, AML, credit) or fintech experience.
