Machine Learning / Data Engineer

About the role

Turing is hiring a senior ML/Data Engineer, fully remote from Brazil or Colombia, to own data quality and sensitive-data compliance across enterprise data pipelines. You'll build the ML that detects and consistently replaces PII, PHI, company-identifiable and financial data at scale, working with a senior ML lead and no client-facing duties.

What you'll do

• Train and evaluate NER and other detection models over text and image documents such as scans, invoices and presentations.
• Build replacement pipelines that map each detected entity to a consistent substitute across a whole corpus.
• Design automated validation suites: schema checks, completeness, drift detection and reconciliation from raw to sanitized stages.
• Create adversarial test sets covering obfuscated identifiers, multilingual entities and OCR noise; report precision, recall and leak rates.
• Add regression gates in CI/CD and run sampling-based human-in-the-loop audits as compliance evidence.

Requirements

• Around 4-5 years of hands-on machine learning experience.
• Strong Python for ML and data validation (pytest, Great Expectations, Pandera) plus solid SQL.
• Experience building and evaluating NER or similar detection systems with labeled eval sets.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, GDPR/LGPD, PCI DSS and re-identification risk.
• Nice to have: computer vision/OCR, GCP stack, financial or healthcare data experience.
