Risk Data Scientist

About the role

Plata is hiring its first dedicated Data Scientist for the Risk team in Colombia, as part of launching a new business line. You'll build the risk data science function from scratch and set its technical foundations.

What you'll do

• Design, build and own end-to-end machine learning models that support credit risk decisions, from feature engineering to deployment, monitoring and retirement
• Develop predictive models for adjacent areas such as churn/attrition on issued loans and reserve calculations
• Establish and maintain a managed lifecycle for production ML models, keeping them stable as data volume grows
• Partner with risk analysts, portfolio managers and risk-tech strategy teams on model implementation

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on, production-level data science experience
• Practical experience across the full ML model lifecycle: development, deployment, monitoring and decommissioning
• Strong grounding in ML algorithms, feature engineering and model development; Python, SQL, Airflow, Git and BI/Streamlit
• Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or a related STEM field; banking or financial services background preferred
• English at B1 or above to work with an international team
